Propeller blades have always been considered difficult to measure, especially in large diameters - but nothing is impossible with 3D Scanning.

After the challenging repair of four propeller blades by the specialised crew of ELIKOTECHNIKI in Piraeus, Greece, we were asked to inspect their geometry to verify everything had gone to plan.
The blades were scanned using an Einscan white-light scanner, with an accuracy of up to 45μm. After spraying the blades with an anti-reflective spray, we placed targets on the surface of the blades and proceeded with the scanning process. The point clouds were then processed and compared to each other, to verify the results of the repair - which were excellent.
